Power of 5 isn't just a website, it's also the idea that by using your initiative, skills, and talents, you are powerful, and you can use that power to make a difference by volunteering.
Because you can. Because if you're applying to college or uni, it'll look great on your UCAS statement. Because volunteering increases your self-confidence, enhances your career prospects, gets you skills and uses the ones you've already got. Because you meet new people, have a laugh, help out, change a life. Because it's a chance to take what you don't like and turn it into something you do.
More than you think. Become an MV. Get in to ProjectScotland. Volunteer overseas. Or get some mates together and we'll help you out.
Also, check out the MV Volunteering Passport and browse through either by the type of work you'd like to do, the area you live in or would like to work in, or the cause you want to support.
Unfortunately not. Voluntary organisations are usually prepared to pay for travel expenses. Endless cups of tea may also be on offer.
That depends on what you want to do and how much time you want to give.
When you sign up with us or with an organisation you'll have to give out some of your personal details — name, address, phone number, email; that kind of stuff. If you want to take up a particular type of work, like for example with children, you will have to undergo a police check.
If you're experiencing any problems the best people to ask are the people you're
working with, who should be qualified to answer any questions you might have. If they're not, or you're having difficulties, contact us.
Stop reading this list and start volunteering. Go on — what are you waiting for?
